Although they are currently on hiatus to spend more time with their families, Dallas pop-punk giants Down To Friend took the time to chat to me about the potential return of the band, and their inspirations within the music scene.

CB – Hey guys, thank you for taking the time to chat to me! For those people who have never listened to Down To Friend, can you give us a wee introduction? DTF - Well, we're Down To Friend. It's like down to fuck but a little more friendly! But we're a pop punk party band from Dallas, TX. We like to try and make everyone have a good time and forget about the negative parts of life for a while, as we do whenever we're playing music. We just want everyone to have a good time. CB – You guys are on hiatus just now yeah? Any plans for a big return in 2016? DTF - We are on a hiatus at the moment sadly. After losing our screamer/co-founder SX we decided to take a little break ourselves and focus on our families and personal lives for a bit as we had poured every single bit of time we had into DTF for almost 4 yrs. The remaining original members myself (Roger), Jimbo, Kris and Randy have all been in talks of recording some new music and continuing on without SX and maybe changing up the sound a bit as a result. We're actually pretty excited. We'll be taking our time with it tho and can't really say if it will be in 2016 when we return or not. Guess we'll see! CB – Your song “Business As Usual” has a somewhat A Day To Remember feel to it! Who would you say has been your biggest musical inspiration, and why? DTF - We love ADTR so thank you for the amazing comparison. But our influences range widely but alot are old school pop punk bands like NFG, Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, Hit The Lights... even to bands like Attila, Pantera, AA. Just alot of different things really. CB – I see that you are from Dallas! What is the music scene like over there? DTF - The music scene in Dallas is HUGE. Tons and tons and tons of great local music. Unfortunately tho, there's not too much of a pop punk scene here at all. Hardcore and metal rule Dallas and probably always will. Fortunately we can get pretty heavy ourselves so we somehow fit right in with all the heavy bands there. Plus we party harder than most of them. CB – Would you guys be looking to tour if you start making music again? DTF - Touring is very, very rough when you're not signed and it's coming out of your own pocket. We love being on the road more than anything in the world and really hope we get a chance to do it again. I guess we'll see. CB – Finally, do you have any words for fans of Down To Friend? DTF - We miss you all more than you'll ever know and miss DTF as much as any of you out there might. It's a huge part of who we are as people and I know we couldn't live with ourselves without making more DTF music and playing more shows. We will be back, PROMISE! Keep an eye out for our return cause either will be glorious!
